We all pretend it’s normal…
We all pretend that life in NY is normal. Just today I had the day off, which isn’t usually for a Thursday, and I decided to go to the gym before noon. I got on a train at 10am and...

What If I Told You That You Can Have a Different Life?
I know I will sound very naïve now, but I had a recent revelation I would like to share with you. I started thinking about the choices we make and why we actually make them. Those who have rea...

Poor Rich Kids
I have mentioned money in NYC on Just Like NY a few times already. There is a lot of money here, and people spend lots of it on a variety of weird and stupid things sometimes....

Do You Want To Be Famous?
Because I’ve been living here for almost five years now, I tend to forget what kind of place NYC is. It’s where fantasy keeps meeting reality. The longer you live here, the more “...

Double Standard – Why Are Women Treated Differently?
I had a situation that I wrote about on Facebook, but I want to write more about it, because there is more to it.  So there was a guy, a customer of mine who I had met maybe three times, who&n...

Why Having a Boyfriend Will Not Make You Happy?
When I was a teenage girl (that is one week ago… just kidding), my biggest dream was to have a boyfriend. Especially since a weekly column called “Love Story” from “Bravo&r...

What Happens Once You Stop Caring If People Like You?
What happens once you stop caring if people like you…? It’s simple – your life starts changing. Yes, it’s that huge. One day I realized that it happened to me – that ...

Men and Sex
What is it that men want when it comes to sex…? The thing is: they want to have everything. Including a virgin. That’s the funniest part. I didn’t have a lot of sex in my life (c...

The Most Annoying American Family
I must say, I’m so fed up with these fake images and fake lives that are all over social media now. And there is one family that makes me especially angry. You’ve p...

Step 53 - Do You Have A Choice?
I believe I have already written about what I am about to say in this post, but I’ll be coming back to the subject, because it’s really important. I notice more and more often that we ge...

Step 52 - Don’t Assume (Or In Another Words, Don’t Judge)
We’re all guilty of it. We judge. And even if you say or think that you don’t, I have bad news for you – yes, you do. We all classify people based on our knowledge of the...

Stereotypes. Have Enough Class To Not Say Anything
I wrote about stereotypes already, but the longer I live here, the more I see that not much is changing in this matter. Living in NY will help you learn more about other cultures, but it doesn&rsq...

Walk with me, Part 4 – Nolita

Nolita is right next to Soho and I was thinking of putting these two walks together – and you could do that of course – but there are just too many things to explore in each neighborhood so I separated them. Nolita has a bit different vibe than Soho. It’s very cozy. Luckily there are still good looking people around, but there is more…swag about them. I love coming in he

Walk with Me, Part 3 – Soho

Soho is one of my favorite places in NY. And it’s not because of the fancy stores (I don’t have the desire to buy a Chanel bag, I want someone to give me that bag for free.) It's about the people. There is no other neighborhood where people look better. I call Soho a land of beautiful people. They’re also fashionably dressed and in good shape. Well, you have to&nbs

Women’s Surf Film Festival

I finally attended Women’s Surf Film Festival that took place at Rockaway Beach Surf Club on the last Friday and Saturday of July. I didn’t see all the movies (they’re mostly shorts), because I had a surfing lesson in the morning, but what mattered most weren’t the movies itself. Rockaway Beach Surf Club is a very laid-back place, of the kind that  makes wearing anyt

10 Types of Most Annoying Subway People I See Every Day:

1.        First of all, I think that a person who gets on a train and keeps their backpack on (when it’s crowded) should be slapped in the face right away. What’s wrong with you!? Don’t you see you’re taking extra space and people have your backpack pushed into their faces now? 2.       Those who decide to stand

Come For A Walk With Me, Part 2: Dumbo, Brooklyn Bridge Park

This is definitely one of my favorite walks in NY and it always makes me fall in love with NY again. Take the F train and get off at York St. station in Brooklyn. You’re in Dumbo now (I wrote about Dumbo alreadyhere), go down Jay Street to the river and stop by Brooklyn Roasting Company Coffee shop and grab something to drink or eat. Then go further towards the river and walk under Manhattan

Surfing

When I was a kid, I remember watching people surfing on TV (where else could I have watched them, growing up in Poland…?) and dreaming to be like them one day. Then, soon after I graduated, I watched the documentary feature “Surf Wise” and was hooked. I just knew that it would be my life one day. We started to windsurf with my friend, because it was the closest I could get t

Paul Nicklen Gallery

There is a lot of bad things to be said about social media, but I believe that when used it wisely, it’s a great tool overall. I followed a photographer, Chris Burkard (@chriburkard), on Instagram just because I thought he took amazing photos. So when I saw (also on Instagram) he’d have an exhibition in NY, I knew I had to go. And I went with my friends on a hot Saturday afternoon to a

Walk With Me, Part 1 – Brookfield Place and The Statue of Liberty

Many people who visit NY and want to see Statue of Liberty take 5 subway line and get off at Bowling Green station, next to Battery Park. After they spot the Statue, they walk between buildings to World Trade Center. What I would suggest is a different solution. Take the E train and get off at World Trade Center station, then head to Brookfield Place (you can also visit Freedom Tower and the World
